- The Ethiopian community in Israel numbers 85 000.
- 41 200 Olim are expected to arrive in Israel in 2003.
- A total of 1.2 million people in Israel almost a fifth of the population, live in poverty.

- 18% of Israels elderly are new immigrants from the FSU. They have meagre resources and limited Hebrew. Many are disabled.
